A statewide effort to place an advisory marriage referendum on the 2012 ballot
We are a group of patriotic citizens who are working tirelessly to promote American family values in our society. At a time when the values of the family and the church are under attack from well-funded liberal politicians, it is essential that citizens unite in grass-roots based opposition to restore and to preserve the values that have made America an exceptional nation under God.
Our Illinois Defense of Marriage Initiative is a statewide effort to place an advisory marriage referendum on the 2012 ballot. This effort is rooted in the 2006 Protect Marriage Referendum Campaign which laid the groundwork for this final drive designed to protect marriage in Illinois as being exclusively between one man and one woman.
The current effort is to recommend to the state legislature on the 2012 ballot that an amendment to the Illinois State Constitution be made as follows:
“To secure and preserve the benefits of marriage for our society and for future generations of children, the union of one man and one woman in marriage shall be the only agreement recognized as a marriage or similar union for any purpose”
Our organizational structure is 50,000 strong and growing daily.
